First activities at YEDS Community Centre

    “Together better, better togehter”

Liyoyelo women’s club was the first community group we worked with. We helped them run a chicken business and they’ve now launched other income-generating initiatives that are also yielding very good results.

Thanks to the chicken business they were able to start the village banking project and now have more options to improve their lives.

Village banking is a community-based, informal financial system where groups of people, often low-income entrepreneurs, save and lend money to each other, providing access to credit without requiring collateral.

Members guarantee each other’s loans, fostering a strong sense of mutual support and high repayment rates. These groups manage their own funds, elect leaders, and establish rules, functioning like a self-managed bank to empower members to grow businesses and improve their livelihoods.

It is incredible what a determined group of women can achieve simply by working together.

    “Together better, better together”

We envision a society where youth and women participation is valued and integrated at all levels of national development.

Recognizing the unifying and transformative power of sport, YEDS employs this medium as the cornerstone of its programs, fostering community engagement and individual growth.

We are a dedicated and hands-on group of community members focused on empowerment of youth and women for community development.

Our establishment was inspired by the pressing need to tackle critical issues facing the youth today.
